(no subject)

No riots so far tonight - yay! It's raining - and I assume the looters didn't take umbrellas or ponchos because the rain seems to have put them off. Hopefully the momentum will die down now. Unfortunately 3 people were killed last night, when some rioters drove a car into the crowd.

Hopefully this is the end of it. Of course, it makes no difference. Half of those who have been arrested and charged have been let out on bail anyway, so they will probably just do it again. I fucking hate this country sometimes. It was only yesterday the riot police were given rubber bullets!

The police have been hopeless and in many communities it has been up to local residents to protect their streets (although now THEY are being arrested.!?!?!?!?!?!?)

David Cameron clearly doesn't understand what's happened and what needs to be done but there is nothing new there.

What this country needs is change - the justice system is rotten as is the education system. And these riots committed by youths (and that aint propaganda - I saw with my own eyes - they were all kids) show us exactly what we have created. Monsters. And it's just going to get worse. We've created this greed culture - the looting is a perfect example of that. These kids EXPECT to have all of these things but aren't prepared to work for them. And we let them get away with it. And this is the result.

That being said, I would like to state clearly that it is only a MINORITY of youths who have committed these crimes and certainly not all. But it is clear something has gone very very wrong and the culture of 'hug a hoodie' just doesn't work. We need to be tough and stop being the world's doormat.
